DALVANIUS MEMORIAL USA TOUR 2004 KICKS OFF AT THE POLYNESIAN CULTURAL CENTER

Concert pays tribute and features the works of legendary Maori songwriter and composer Dalvanius Prime

Laie, HI - September 16, 2004 - The Polynesian Cultural Center will be the first stop of the Dalvanius Memorial USA Tour on Thursday, September 23, 2004. The concert features the world-renowned New Zealand and Maori entertainers the Patea Maori Club and the Fascinations, who will pay tribute and feature works of the late Dalvanius Prime.

Prime is the most successful Maori entertainer, songwriter and composer in New Zealand history. He dedicated his life and music career to bringing the Maori culture, song and dance to mainstream New Zealand audiences and the world.

In addition to Hawaii, the tour will also be making stops in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City and St. George, Utah.

"We are extremely honored to be the first stop of the Dalvanius Memorial USA Tour," said Ellen Gay Dela Rosa, PCC senior manager, special events and promotions. "Events like this concert are all part of the PCC's continual effort to educate and share the cultures of Polynesia with the world."

The concert will take place at the PCC's Hale Ohana starting at 7:00 p.m.
General admission for the concert is $6.00 and $3.00 for PCC employees and BYUH students, with proper ID. For more information, or to purchase tickets, call the reservations office at (808) 293-3333.

Founded in 1963 as a non-profit organization, the PCC has entertained more than 31 million visitors, while preserving and portraying the culture, arts, and crafts of Polynesia to the rest of the world. In addition, the PCC has provided financial assistance to 14,000 young people from over 70 different countries while they attend Brigham Young University-Hawai'i. As a non-profit organization, 100 percent of PCC's revenue is used for daily operations and to support education.
