Half-Day Class Offer Lessons from the World Renowned PCC

March 31, 2005 La‘ie, HI: The Polynesian Cultural Center is bringing its popular hula workshop to Phoenix on April 16 with a daylong session for interested participants. The classes, open to intermediate and advanced hula dancers, will provide instruction for both kahiko (ancient) and auana (modern) hula chants and mele (songs).

For one day only – Saturday, April 16, 2005 – Polynesian Cultural Center kumu hula (hula instructors) Ellen Gay Dela Rosa and Keith Awai will share new songs and dances during a workshop from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Ramada Inn Downtown Phoenix, Arizona Ballroom located at 401 N. First St., Phoenix, Ariz. 85004.

“Educating people about the Hawaiian culture is part of the mission of the Polynesian Cultural Center. So, it is with great pride and pleasure that we share our hula with Dallas,” said Ellen Gay Dela Rosa, PCC senior manager, Hawaii sales and promotions, kumu hula and choreographer. Dela Rosa has worked at the PCC for the past 30 years teaching and choreographing Hawaiian songs and dances in the PCC’s world famous productions.

The early bird cost to attend the workshop is $85 and includes workshop fees and an instructional packet. Registration fees received after April 13, including at the door, will cost $100.00.
